For Mons. Crociata, the new representative of the Holy Father before the European Union “provides a notable legacy of diplomatic commitment and ecclesial service.”
In this regard, he stressed that for decades “he has played a fundamental role” in the service to the Holy See and demonstrated “a deep commitment and vision.”
He also expressed his confidence that the collaboration between the new Pontifical Representative and Eat it “will be fruitful and shocking in the promotion of the common good in the European Union.”
Finally, the president of the European bishops wished Mons. Auza “strength and wisdom in his mission” and that “the guide of God accompanies him in every step of the road.”
Born in Talibon, the Philippines, in 1959, the 66 -year -old Archbishop, has extensive diplomatic experience that began in 1990. Throughout the years, it has served in various pontifical representations around the world, including Madagascar, Bulgaria and Albania.
He has also worked in the section for relations with international states and organizations of the Secretary of State, as well as in the permanent mission of the Holy See before the United Nations in New York.
In May 2008, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Haiti and received the title of Archbishop of Suacia. Subsequently, in July 2014, he became a permanent observer of the Holy See before the United Nations in New York and permanent observer before the Organization of American States (OAS).
More recently, in October 2019, Archbishop Auza was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Spain and Andorra. It has titles in literature and theology, and speaks French, English, Italian, Spanish and Tagalo.
