The bishops of Central America, gathered in Guatemala for their 81st annual assembly, issued a message denouncing that the “migratory drama constitutes a cry not sufficiently heard.”
In a statement released on November 30 by the Episcopal Secretariat of Central America (SEDAC), which brings together the bishops of the region, warns about the “intensification” of the migratory crisis made up of “young people who cannot find work, lives in danger due to violence, those vulnerable to climate change” in their place of origin.
The SEDAC has described migrants as “heroes of the economy of our countries,” recognizing remittances as profits obtained “in environments of underemployment and severe deprivation.”
