Bishops ask for prayers for the victims of the tragic plane crash in Honduras

The bishops of Honduras have asked to pray for the victims of the tragic plane crash that occurred on March 17 on the island of Roatán (Honduras), where an aircraft collapsed to the sea shortly after takeoff, leaving so far a balance of 12 dead.

The Honduran Civil Aeronautics Agency (AHAC) reported That the plane crash occurred at 6:18 pm (local time) on Monday, when the aircraft made a commercial flight from the Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport, in Roatán, one of the most popular tourist islands, bound for CEIBA.

According to the report, “seconds after takeoff, the aircraft rushed to the sea. On board two crew members and 15 passengers were traveling.” The cause has not yet been clarified.

The prelates called on Catholics to join in prayer “to the Lord, asking for the eternal rest of the brothers who have lost their lives in this accident”, as well as “the prompt recovery of those who are injured.”

Strengthened in faith and hope, they asked Christ to grant “peace, light and strength to families who are living this hard proof.”

Finally, they asked that “God our Father, infinitely good and merciful, by the maternal intercession of Santa María de Suyapa, patron saint of Honduras, grant them their abundant grace and blessing.”
