“Let’s rescue our family, and we will rescue our society,” is the call made by Mons. Ramón Alberto Rolón Güepsa, Bishop of Chiquinquirá (Colombia), denouncing that the value of the family is obscured by currents of thought and ideologies.
Mons. Rolón Güepsa, who is also a member of the Episcopal Marriage and Family Commission, pointed in an articlepublished on the Episcopper website, that “the family today has lost its identity; its mission has been distorted”, so it is necessary to “listen again to the enlightening word to re -assess God’s plan over the family.”

However, the prelate indicates, this man “listens to a saving voice” from the apostle, who with Silas had chosen to stay. The Bishop of Chiquinquirá said that “this call continues today, and has to reach all our families.”
“Today our family is in the dark of thoughts and ideologies that do not let us see the value and dignity of the family, the envoys of God, to his word and to the announcement of the Church are rejected. Therefore, it is essential to hear the divine word again and let God act in our lives, listen to him and follow the light that makes the truth that saves,” he said.
The prelate indicated the need for more Christian families who testify to “the true culture of love.” In addition, he recalled that it is in homes where “evangelical values and principles is educated.”
“God needs the family to continue doing his work by his saving work,” he said.
In that sense, he recalled that God sanctified the family “with the presence of his beloved son in the home of Nazareth, with San José and the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
Therefore, he encouraged to receive the Holy Family in the houses and follow his example “to rescue our Colombian family, to recover the values of our society and to make our family a sanctuary where peace, love and truth are lived.”
“Only then, returning to God, listening to his word and living it, weapons will be silenced; our land will be watered with fertility instead of blood; children can meet their parents and grow within their homes and there will be no more widows crying for their spouses or orphan lamented the loss of their parents. Let’s listen to God, his saving word, before the human voice that leads us to the dark, he leads us to the darke assured.
