The Bishop of Córdoba (Spain), Bishop Demetrio Fernández, affirms in his latest weekly letter that “the Word of God has been enormously revalued” since the Second Vatican Council (CVII).
The Prelate highlights that the CVII “devoted special attention to the Word of God, from the point of view of God’s revelation (God’s word) and from the liturgical point of view as God’s dialogue with today’s man and man’s response to God who communicates (Sacred Council, on the sacred liturgy).
Consequently, Bishop Fernández considers that the liturgical reform of the CVII led to “the superlative enrichment of the Word of God in the celebrations, especially in the Mass”, in contrast to the previous situation in which “the prohibition of free access to the Word of God, for fear of the free interpretation of Protestants.”
