The Bishop of Orihuela-Alicante, Mons. José Ignacio Munilla, has spread through his social networks a comment on the implications of pastoral charity in the blessing of people with irregular emotional situations.
The Prelate made his publication a few hours after the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith released a statement titled Begging for confidence, on the pastoral meaning of blessings.
Mons. Munilla affirms that “pastoral charity is a call for all sinners to be blessed, but not to bless our sin” and, in this sense, he exemplifies that “this was the behavior of Jesus of Nazareth, who ‘said- good’ of the sinful woman whom they wanted to stone, but that did not mean that he blessed their relationships (“Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more” Jn 8, 11).
