The Catholic Bible App It offers several versions in Spanish, chronological reading, markers, dark mode, reflections and the option of listening to the Bible in audio, which also makes it accessible for blind people.
“One of the things that was in our hearts was to share the Word of God, and now with all the people who have mobile devices, the most convenient was to put it in an application for phones,” said Arturo Meneses, APP technical support director.
Fr. Juan Carlos Vásconez, director of Podcast Talk to Jesusstressed the usefulness of these tools: “In today’s world, that we are walking or jumping from one thing to another, we have dead spaces in which writing speaks to us quickly. It is also important to learn to deepen writing. I remember that the priests always traveled with the breviary; now we all have it on the phone.”
For those who seek to make divine lectio, the priest recommends the application Praisewhich also includes rosaries, coronillas, via crucis, daily meditations, the catechism and the saint of the day. “The important thing is that you decide to do the divine lece on your own phone,” he said.
For its part, the app Hallow Combine prayer, Christian meditation, divine lectio and rosaries with instrumental music. It also offers classical sentences, Latin rosaries, novenas, daily homilies, prayer challenges and even virtual retreats.
“The main thing I would like to communicate to the audience is: why not give a free time to a free application that invites users to pray and meet the love of God that is for everyone?” Juan Manuel González, Hallow director for Latin America, encouraged.
Fr. Vásconez also advised discernment when downloading religious apps: “You have to be careful with some applications that are not Catholics, such as those based on the Reina Valera Bible, Protestant.”
