With a couple of days left until Lionel Messi debuts in Major League Soccer 2024 with the Inter Miami shirt, his son Thiago does his thing in the club’s training categories: He scored a great goal in the final of the Weston Cup, a youth tournament organized by the Weston FC club, and his team became champions.
Under the watchful eye of Leo, Thiago took a volley near the rival goal and nailed the ball into the goalkeeper’s right post, generating madness among his own teammates in the Under 12 category, among whom was Benjamín Suárez, son of the historic Uruguayan forward who has become a brand new reinforcement for Las Garzas.
Since the arrival of the Rosario star arrived in the United States, all of his children began playing soccer in the club’s academy. Furthermore, when he has free time, the captain of the Argentine National Team goes to see them, both at training sessions and at matches against other teams.
But Thiago’s case is special. Even though he is not such a football fan, the 11-year-old boy shares the training space with his father at the Florida Blue Training Center. In addition, his division competes in the Florida Academy League, while the other categories (U13, U14, U15, U16 and U17) will do so in the MLS Next league.
