A few days ago, a one-month-old baby identified only as DM was transferred from a hospital in England to the Bambino Gesù, the so-called “Pope’s Hospital” in Rome, to be treated for a heart ailment, since in the first hospital health had been resolved that he could not be operated on.
DM was born in England, the son of an Italian father and a Nigerian mother, “with a very serious heart malformation,” according to the Roman hospital, in information collected by the Italian bishops’ journal, FutureApril 24th.
The family’s lawyer, Simone Pillon, explained that “the child needed surgery, but local protocols” of the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children “they ran the risk of excluding him. Then the father turned to the Italian organizations dedicated to the care of minors and to my law firm.”
