Baby abandonment in Mexico invites you to reflect on youth abortion

A newborn was found alive in the streets of the State of Mexico after being abandoned on February 11, a fact that has shocked the country. In this case, the Catholic Church and Provida activists warned about the consequences of youth abortion and the importance of education in affective responsibility.

The case

The baby was rescued in Tultitlán with placenta remains and transferred to a local hospital, where the authorities confirmed that it is in good health and with stable vital signs.

The case went viral after the dissemination of a video in which the father is seen transporting him in a plastic bag and a backpack, before leaving him next to a car. In addition, a leaked conversation among the young people involved revealed that the mother would have suffered a spontaneous abortion after ingesting pills to interrupt pregnancy.

The triumph of life

The archdiocese of Mexico denounced that today you have made young people believe that “abortion is a right, and that nothing happens, it is like throwing a piece of cells that invaded the body”, until “publicly see a baby Moving, abandoned, struggling to survive, and society realizes an act of cruelty. ”

The Mexican Church called that this case serve as a lesson, so that society value “the nascent life, so that we take care of our young people and make them strong, but, at the same time, we give them hope in their own future.”

Selfishness and lack of responsibility

In an interview with ACI PRENDA, Pilar Rebollo, director of the Steps for Life Movement, warned that lack of responsibility has led many young people to adopt the idea that “a baby is not a person.” According to Rebollo, many prefer to call it “‘thing’ or ‘cell cluster’ so as not to feel bad, to continue enjoying or pass the page.”

He also regretted that, at present, “love, responsibility and commitment” has been dissociated, and urged to educate couples in values ​​that promote affective and sexual responsibility, as well as the culture of abstinence.

“Today young people are not putting goals or considering abstaining. It seems absurd to propose chastity and purity, but we can do it in a real way, as a practical solution, ”he said.

In addition, he called on society to accompany young parents in their process and offer them alternatives that allow them to continue studying and forming. In this regard, civil society urged authorities to generate real support and provide education based on a “true sexuality, so that they are not slaves of hypersexualization.” “It is not enough to give contraceptives,” he added.

Rebollo also highlighted the work of various associations such as Maternal Network, Isabel, Vifac and Mater Filius project, which provide support to women in crisis, helping them overcome difficult situations and making responsible decisions about the lives of their children.
