Starting June 16, Avianca will inaugurate a new direct flight that will unite the cities of Buenos Aires and Medellín, in Colombia, with the objective of “strengthening connectivity between both countries.”
“We are working, together with the authorities, to connect our countries more and more because we know that strengthening connectivity between Argentina and Colombia promotes and benefits both markets,” said Ana María Copete, director of Commercial Development at Avianca, during the presentation of the direct flight that took place this Thursday at the Hilton Buenos Aires hotel.
In that sense, Copete emphasized that people who arrive in Medellín on this new route They will be able to connect with 75 destinations in 25 countries to which Avianca travels.
Also present at the event was the Colombian ambassador to Argentina, Camilo Romero, who highlighted that “tourism in Colombia has been growing in a very significant way and this new route will bring together two emblematic cities not only for each country but for South America and the world”.
And he added: “The reality of a direct Medellín-Buenos Aires flight is very pleasant for us and we hope that, with the government’s promise of open skies, many airlines will consider this destination that has been increasing. There are more Colombians traveling to Argentina and vice versa”.
“By order of President Javier Milei, we are here advancing and strengthening the open skies policy. This decision is beginning to materialize with new routes, new frequencies and with more companies that want to fly in Argentina,” said Franco Mogetta, Secretary of Transportation of the Argentine Nation.
“In addition,” he said, “we are already beginning negotiations with the Colombian authorities to agree on improvements in the air system of both countries. And in that context, today’s announcement is excellent news, we celebrate the new route that Avianca begins to operate, that will link Buenos Aires with Medellín, and we hope that more destinations will continue to be added to provide greater connectivity to users in the region.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Ketchibachian, CEO of Aeropuertos Argentina, assured: “We are committed to promoting regional connectivity, and we work every day towards that objective. This Avianca initiative represents a great advance to consolidate air connectivity and ties between both countries. It is the fruit of joint work between the public and private sectors that makes us proud.”

The frequencies
Avianca will make available to travelers a daily frequency operated on family aircraft A320 with capacity for up to 180 passengers and an offer of more than 2,500 seats per week.
The flights will leave Medellín at 4:45 p.m. and arrive in the City of Buenos Aires at 1:25 a.m. And at 2:30 they will leave Buenos Aires to arrive in Medellín at 7:05 (always local time).
With this route, via Medellín, it will offer you a wide variety of destinations in Colombia and internationally to connect. Among them, San Andrés, Armenia, Barranquilla, Cali and Cartagena, in Colombia, as well as Cancún, New York, and Madrid.
This route is added to the one already operated by the airline to Colombia, Buenos Aires – Bogotá, with which it makes available to travelers two daily frequencies, nearly 7,000 seats a week and the possibility of connecting from the Colombian capital with more of 75 national and international destinations in America and Europe.
