The website The Apostle of the Impossiblefrom the organizers of the tour of the relic of Saint Jude Thaddeus in the United States that began in September 2023, indicates that “the most reliable ancient records identify the place of Saint Jude’s martyrdom and burial as the city of Beirut,” in the present-day Lebanon.
Some time later, he notes, the body of the holy apostle was taken to Rome and “placed in a crypt inside the original St. Peter’s Basilica.”
Currently the remains of Saint Jude Thaddeus are preserved in the current Saint Peter’s Basilica, in the Vatican.

The organizers of the relic tour through the United States indicate that the arm of Saint Jude Thaddeus “was separated from most of his remains several centuries ago and placed in a simple wooden reliquary, carved in the shape of an upright arm with the gesture of imparting a blessing.”
“The reliquary was last opened during the time of Cardinal Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani, who served as Vicar General of His Holiness (Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Rome) from 1931 to 1951. Its seals enclose it, ensuring provenance and authenticity.” , they point out.
When will the arm of San Judas Tadeo be in the Archdiocese of San Francisco?
The Archdiocese of San Francisco reported that the relic of the arm of Saint Jude Thaddeus will be available for veneration by devotees for four days, in the churches of four cities.
On Friday, June 14, the relic can be venerated at the San Mateo church, in the city of the same name, from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm (local time). At 7:00 pm a Mass will be celebrated in honor of San Judas Tadeo.
On Saturday, June 15, the arm of San Judas Tadeo can be venerated in the church of San Antonio de Padua, in the city of Novato, a special Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm After concluding the Mass, and until 9:00 pm, the relic can be venerated.
On Thursday, June 20, the relic will be found in the Church of the Visitation, in San Francisco, from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. At 7:00 pm a Mass will be celebrated in honor of Saint Jude Thaddeus.
On Saturday, June 22, the arm of Saint Jude Thaddeus can be venerated at the Saint Pius Church in Redwood City. A Mass in honor of the “Apostle of the Impossible” will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, after which, until 9:00 pm, the relic can be venerated.
