“Our solidarity, our fraternal affection and our prayer for each one of you,” is the message that Father Eusebio Hernández Greco, chaplain of Venezuelan migrants of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires (Argentina), on behalf of the local Church.
The statement of the Catholic Church comes in light of the dramatic moments that are being experienced in Venezuela after the presidential election held this Sunday, in which the Electoral Justice declared Nicolás Maduro the winner, sparking a series of protests and the international community’s pronouncement on alleged fraud.

Through a video and on behalf of the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Mons. Jorge García Cuerva, the priest recognized that these are “crucial moments for beloved Venezuela.” For this reason, he expressed, “we want to be with each one of you, to be present with our love, our prayer, to accompany you in these moments so that you remain firm in hope.”

Along with that hug, he encouraged telling Venezuelans “that here we are, as brothers walking alongside them, praying for them, praying for dear Venezuela,” added Father Hernández Greco.
“May Jesus Christ, our beloved Nazarene of Saint Paul, have mercy on our people, may he, together with the Virgin of Coromoto, as a sweet Mother, sustain each one of you in these moments, and grant you the peace that opens paths of reconciliation, paths for a more just and fraternal homeland,” he concluded, with his blessing.
