The Archbishopric of Buenos Aires (Argentina) issued a statement clarifying the circumstances under which a massive solidarity dinner was held on Tuesday night in the metropolitan cathedral, especially held for homeless people.
The clarification comes in light of some news released in recent hours, which made a political reading of the activity.

The versions that have circulated in some media describe the dinner offered by the Church in Buenos Aires as a gesture in protest for a conflict that has arisen in recent weeks as a result of the retention, by the National Government, of a large number of food that should be allocated to social aid, a topic on which some bishops recently spoke out.
In this context, the archbishopric explained that the activity was part of Charity Week, on the eve of the Annual Cáritas Collection.
This meeting, they specified, had the participation of representatives from parishes, movements, officials of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and civil associations.
“We are sure that the best help is the one that is organized. It is in this spirit that in this first instance all those who have been carrying out a generous, supportive and committed task with the poorest were summoned,” they detailed.
This weekend, with the motto “Your solidarity is hope”, the Annual Cáritas Collection will take place throughout the country, which seeks to bring concrete help to the people who suffer the most.
