In your count ofNahuel Sotelo recorded this first meeting with the new authorities of the Catholic Church in Argentina.

“We wish the new authorities every success. We appreciate the time and the willingness to always engage in dialogue and construction,” he said.

“May God accompany us in our responsibilities!” the young man hoped.

This instance of meeting and dialogue between the government and the Catholic Church comes in line with the desires that Mons. Colombo had expressed upon being elected president of the Episcopate.

After the election, and in dialogue with Radio Mitre Mendozathe archbishop was enthusiastic about the challenge of “working together on what is central to the Church, which is evangelization, mission, charitable assistance, and integral human promotion.”

“There is on our part a permanent invitation to a social dialogue on the big issues and a strengthening of that inclusive dimension of life, so that no one falls out of the schemes and that all people can be understood and not discarded as the Pope says. Francisco,” he noted.

In that sense, he asked the government “that no one be left out and that everyone be taken into account” and hoped that “the policies, the decisions, the instruments of government go in favor of the people, that they enable real access for the people to goods, to work, to the things necessary for their dignity, it is what we want most and it is what we ask for most.”

Regarding the government’s tendency to reduce public spending, he pointed out that “there are public spending issues that have to do with the social agenda,” which is why he called for adjustments to be made, but taking into account “that people are not without food.”

Given the possibility of meeting with President Milei, Bishop Colombo said that “the invitation is always to dialogue with everyone and generate that flow of necessary and essential empathy with the poorest.”
