Argentina: The Order of Augustinian Recollects celebrated its first 100 years of presence

This Saturday, January 18, a large number of faithful accompanied the Order of Augustinian Recollects in a Thanksgiving Mass that began the celebrations for its first 100 years of presence in Argentina.

From different parts of the country, members of the order arrived in the city of Mar del Plata and gathered at the Nuestra Señora de Fátima parish, where Mons. Darío Rubén Quintana, Prelate Bishop of Cafayate—who in the past was Auxiliary Bishop of Mar del Plata— presided over the Eucharist.

Concelebrated were the Bishop-Elect of Mar del Plata, Mons. Ernesto Giobando; the Bishop of San Rafael, Mons. Carlos María Domínguez; the Bishop of San Juan de Cuyo, Mons. Jorge Lozano; and the Auxiliary Bishop of Mercedes-Luján, Mons. Mauricio Landra, along with several Augustinian Recollect priests.

Among the members of the Augustinian Recollects community who were present were the Prior Provincial, Fray Javier Tello OAR; and other priests of the Order of Augustinian Recollects in Argentina, Spain, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, India and Mexico.

For this reason, he thanked the Lord for the “tireless dedication and commitment to the evangelization and well-being of our people” of those first missionaries who arrived in Argentina. “Through their work, they have sown seeds of hope, love and justice that have blossomed into countless blessings for all of us,” he acknowledged.

Likewise, he asked the Lord to continue blessing “the Augustinian Recollects and all those who follow their example of consecrated life,” and “that their legacy inspires future generations to live with the same fervor and dedication, bringing your light to every corner.” of our nation.”

Finally, on behalf of the Order, he renewed the commitment “to continue working together for a more just and fraternal world, guided by the values ​​that the Augustinian Recollects have taught us. May your presence among us continue to be a beacon of hope and a living testimony of your infinite love,” he hoped.

At the end of the Eucharist, the bishops carried the image of Our Lady of Fátima in procession, and before it they consecrated the Vicariate of Argentina, the Order, the Diocese of Mar del Plata and the entire Catholic Church.
