It was a “shared, participatory and plural” path, in which interdisciplinary technical teams structured in three axes were part: integral ecology, human life and dignity, and political organization and the common good.

At the first point, wetlands and forests and the responsible use of natural resources were deepened, as well as sustainable urbanization.

As for human life and dignity, the Catholic Church made clear its position in defense of life in all its stages, the need to legislate on conscientious objection and the essential role of family and respectful inclusion of diversities.

Finally, regarding the political organization and common good, they made their contribution regarding citizen participation, institutional strengthening, social rights and religious freedom.

At this time, the Interdiocesan team has actively participated in training and debate instances, generating spaces for dialogue with elected conventional constituents and its technical teams in different parts of the provincial territory.

In a framework of dialogue, reflection and commitment to the common good, the Church will continue to accompany the reform process and bring this type of documents closer to the conventional ones and their teams, always looking for this to offer a service.

The participation of the Catholic Church on the road to reform

The route began in the late 2024, before the dictation of Provincial Law No. 14,384 that raises the need for constitutional reform, when the Archdiocese of Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz published the article “Recognize the Church within the plurality, without privileges.”

In parallel, the interdiocesan dialogue process began, which resulted in the formation of an interdiocesan team composed of bishops, priests and laity, representing the five dioceses. This team accompanied a historical process of listening, participation and discernment around reform.

In April, the first document entitled “We are Church in the framework of the Constitutional Reform of Santa Fe: a citizen commitment”, which consisted of a joint statement and a pastoral document was published.

In May, participation was opened to parochial communities, ecclesial movements, educational spaces, social organizations and people of good will who would like to join, with a response of more than 100 people who made their contribution.

The tour also included a hybrid day, with more than 80 face -to -face and virtual participants, entitled “The Church in dialogue with constitutional reform: life, ecology and politics.”

This new publication keeps the Catholic Church as an active participant of the process, in turn renewing the service to the community, in the light of the Gospel and the social doctrine of the Church.

The constitutional reform, affirm the dioceses of Santa Fe, “is a historical opportunity to rethink our institutions, strengthen democracy and build a more just, fraternal and supportive province.” In that framework, “as a church, we walk along the people, encouraging discernment, dialogue and active participation in this time of grace,” they conclude.
