The Argentine Episcopal Conference (CEA) reported that on the last day of December 2023, the process of waiving the monthly allocation by the State, provided for by Law 21,950, has concluded.
In this way, archbishops, diocesan bishops and auxiliaries completely stop receiving the monthly contribution that was assigned to them by the State while they were in office, equivalent to 80% of the remuneration of national judges of first instance.
Likewise, the Episcopate clarified that by resolution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, archbishops and bishops who have ceased from their positions for reasons of age or disability may request individually, with a series of requirements, to receive the benefit from the allocation provided for in the law, the amount of which is currently $98,000 (about 100 US dollars).
