The Youth Pilgrimage to Luján, one of the largest manifestations of popular faith in Argentina, which each year mobilizes nearly a million faithful from the City of Buenos Aires to the National Shrine, already has a motto for its 50th edition, which will take place the first weekend of October 2024: “Mother, under your gaze we seek unity.”
The Archdiocesan Commission of Popular Piety of Buenos Aires announced the phrase that will guide walkers and explained: “This year is as special as the others, with the particularity that we celebrate 50 years of pilgrimage in community. Therefore, with tenderness and joy, we prepare with all our strength to reach the feet of Our Mother.”

To develop the motto, several meetings were held in which the requests and intentions of the faithful to the Virgin of Luján, patron saint of Argentines, were taken into account.
“We discovered infinite gratitude, as infinite as Mary’s love. Also many needs that can be compiled into private, family and also community requests, which only become visible in social ties,” they stated.
The common denominator, they assured, is “walking together towards Her, our Mother. We look for her caress, her hand, her smile, her look.”
“Her Mother’s gaze helps us discover ourselves as brothers and leads us to have a greater commitment in the search for unity in the family, in society and in the hearts of each of us,” they maintained.
“If under the mantle and gaze of the Virgin of Luján we begin to build unity among all, we can generate infinite bonds that are supportive, fraternal and in harmony with our community,” they assured.
