The coadjutor bishop assists the bishop and assumes leadership of the diocese once he resigns. Unlike the auxiliary bishop, the coadjutor enjoys some rights such as substituting for the bishop in case of absence or impediment, serving as vicar general, and participating in decision-making on important matters.
“Immense joy” by Mons. Ojea
Upon learning of the appointment of his coadjutor bishop, Bishop Ojea sent a letter to the community to express his “immense joy” at the news and to encourage the faithful to unite in hope to begin walking with who will be the fourth bishop of the diocese.
“It means a great joy for me to make this announcement to you, since, having known him more closely at this time, I know that William is a man faithful to Jesus and who deeply loves the Church,” he said, asking for prayer “for this providential time of our Diocese, and especially for William, so that the Holy Spirit may assist and guide him on his path as a servant of the faithful Holy People of God.”
