Mayor Suárez, for his part, thanked the community for the organization and the time dedicated. “He makes us very happy because he not only values the sanctuary, but also this entire community. I am happy as mayor but more so as a neighbor, and I invite you to come on June 10 to the party that we are going to experience in Sampacho with the Basilica of the Consolata,” he concluded.
history of devotion
In Sampacho, a community founded in 1875 by a few immigrant families from Italian Piedmont and a Franciscan priest, a priest originally from Turin, Father Juan Cinotto led, at the beginning of the 20th century, the devotion to Our Lady of the Consolata, spreading his image and encouraging his veneration.
In 1908, aboard a ship, a 1,232-kilogram corporeal image of Our Lady of Consolata arrived in the Río de la Plata — and then in Sampacho — the same one that men from the community carry in procession every June 20th. 16 blocks.
