In the case of Javier Milei’s government, the intention is to update the platform so that it is “in accordance with current regulations.”
According to the Argentine newspaper The Nationthe Secretary of Education of the Ministry of Human Capital removed the materials “that do not meet the required standards” from the educ.ar website, and announced that they will be replaced gradually.
The content available on said page “was chosen by a team that knows what is good or not for kids. We only replace those who are ideologized,” they explained from the Secretariat, details the Argentine newspaper.
“We choose non-politicized content that is based on the biological branch, which is the family. Later, in their homes, the families teach them what is sung to them, but the State does not get involved in those things,” they added.
One of the criteria for measuring the inadequacy of the content is the age of the students, who may have difficulty receiving and understanding the material.
With this measure, the aim is to ensure that “relevant, precise and reliable” knowledge is transmitted from the State, and responsible attitudes towards sexuality, health and equal opportunities are promoted.
Among the arguments for the execution of these changes, the Government also alluded to the lack of biological-scientific rigor of some materials.
The ultimate goal is that sexual education provided by the State does not promote indoctrination or contravene decree 1086/24 on education free of gender ideology, established by the Milei Government upon assuming power.
A sexual education “faithful to the truth” and not to ideologies
The pro-life organization Frente Joven offered ACI Prensa a reading of these measures, based on its commitment to building “a more dignified society,” which also includes a commitment to the education of children.
Through a statement signed by its president, Florencia Ferullo, they consider that sexuality education “is necessary and must be comprehensive, that is, contemplating all the dimensions of the person and also being respectful of the freedom of each family.”
They also note that this education must be “according to the evolutionary age of the person.”
Although they admit that sexuality education “is not only necessary but urgent”, Frente Joven considers that it “must be faithful to the truth” and that “in no way can the facts be manipulated to install a way of thinking and indoctrinate in the lie.”
In short, “its content should not be limited by the current ideology. “It is the facts and not the ideology that determine reality,” they emphasize.
“We find it essential to review the contents that are currently taught in our schools,” they say, calling to “ensure that the children know each other and, knowing each other, are free to choose the best,” while clarifying that “they will only be able to choose the best.” for their lives if this education is not tinged with any type of indoctrination.”
