Argentina: Catholic influencers renewed fervor for the mission on the digital continent

Three days of training, prayer and reflection were shared by the so-called “digital evangelizers” of Argentina, who last weekend had their second National Meeting (ENED) in the city of Córdoba.

The Argentine Episcopal Conference also gave its support to young people who mission in the “digital continent”, with the presence of the Bishop of San Luis and president of the Episcopal Communication Commission, Mons. Gabriel Barba.

On the first day, Mons. Lucio Ruiz led a discussion on the process it took to create “The Church Listens to You,” an initiative called by the Holy Father within the framework of the Synod of Synodality, and which seeks to include digital environments.

Bishop Ruiz also emphasized the identity of digital missionaries as part of the Church’s mission, going out to search in digital culture for those who are alone and wounded.

In the evening, after group work on the challenges of digital evangelization, those present shared a moment of Eucharistic Adoration, where they entrusted their projects before the relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis.

The second day began with a work table titled “The Church and Digital Evangelization”, a space to answer the questions asked for the Digital Synod.

On Saturday afternoon, a festival open to the public was held on the Paseo del Buen Pastor, with music bands, where the topics worked on by the digital evangelizers during the meeting were announced.

The festival was the occasion to raise a prayer for Catalina Gutiérrez, the young influencer 21-year-old murdered a few days ago in Córdoba, and at the same time pray for her companions, for young people in general, and for the young woman’s family. “Let us ask Mary to protect all families from the influencers, and especially to Catalina’s family at this time,” said Father Hernán Ceballos, of the Archdiocese of Córdoba. Bishop Gabriel Barba also asked the Lord for the eternal rest of the student.

The closing of the ENED was on Sunday, with a spiritual conversation through different prayers, songs and questions to reflect and pray for the next steps as digital missionaries.

At the end of the meeting, each of the participants received a cross sent especially by Pope Francis.
