Argentina: Cáritas asks for the State’s commitment to entities that offer food aid

Cáritas Argentina signed with the Argentine State the renewal of the snack agreement that has allowed it to offer food aid for years, and requested that this commitment be extended to other entities and movements that collaborate with families and children, so that no person is left unprotected.

After signing an agreement on February 7 with the Ministry of Human Capital for 310 million Argentine pesos (around 30,000 US dollars) to continue providing food aid to the poorest, the bishops who make up the Episcopal Commission of Cáritas clarified that It is not an “exclusive agreement between Church and State.”

This agreement, they explained, does not make Cáritas the only interlocutor in helping the most vulnerable, but rather there are a large number of movements, associations, neighborhood centers and unions that are also dedicated to supporting the situation of the poorest.
