Citing the Jubilee motto, the bishop said: “As ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, always on the move, we walk together towards the House of the Father God, to meet and experience his goodness and tenderness, his infinite mercy; enjoy the peace of his Son Jesus Christ Risen and live eternally in love, a fruit that comes from the Holy Spirit.”
1. The Trinitarian dimension
“We long for this definitive encounter, and not only with the Triune God, but entering into communion with the entire heavenly Church; first of all, with the glorious ever Virgin Mary, also with the blessed Joseph, the blessed apostles, the martyrs and all the saints.”
2. The eschatological dimension
“We cannot ignore the eschatological dimension of the Church, but we must keep it very much in mind, since both the pilgrim Church and the heavenly Church are called to union; and, both, they form the unique family of the children of God,” he stressed.
3. The missionary dimension
“While the heavenly Church lives praising, blessing and glorifying God; “We, the members of this pilgrim Church on earth, having our sights set on heavenly goods, must still be missionaries,” he encouraged.
In that sense, he pointed out: “We have the task of announcing the Good News of peace to all the peoples and nations of the world, evangelizing comprehensively; that is, being witnesses of the Risen Jesus, loving, serving and dignifying every human person.”
“Specifically, our mission now consists of imitating the example of Christ, following in his footsteps, and passing through this world like Him, doing good,” he summarized.
This “triple accent” that he proposes for the holy year, he stated, “is in full harmony with the objectives of the being and work of the Synodal Church, in which we find ourselves.”
These objectives, he noted, are: “To strengthen communion with God and with brothers, the call to conscious and active participation in God’s plans, according to the gifts received by the Holy Spirit, and to exercise the evangelizing mission of the Church.” to the ends of the earth, for the glory of God and the peace and happiness of all his creatures.”
Finally, he called to thank God the Father for “the gift of life” and ask for his blessing, to obtain “life in abundance and fullness, which comes to us through his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord, and peace and joy.” , fruits of the Holy Spirit; without forgetting the intercession of Saint Mary, Mother God, of Saint Joseph and of all the angels and saints.”
