A civil judge from the province of Salta (Argentina) ruled in favor of the Carmel Sisters of that city in a case of gender violence against the local Archbishop, Mons. Mario Antonio Cargnello, an emeritus bishop and two priests, ordering them to undergo treatment psychological and training on gender issues, measures that are added to an already existing perimeter restriction.
These are the Discalced Carmelite sisters of the convent of San Bernardo, who have remained in conflict with the Archbishopric for years, which is why the Bishop Emeritus of 9 de Julio, Mons. Martín de Elizalde, is also involved; the judicial vicar, Father Loyola Pinto y de Sancristóval; and Father Lucio Ajaya.
According to the Argentine portal Infobaethe issue underlying this situation is the conflict over the alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary to a psychic in Salta, a phenomenon that has received support from religious women without yet having the endorsement of the Catholic Church.
