The news of the investigation arises after Corpus Christi for Unity and Peace published on social networks an incident that supposedly took place in the St. Anthony of Padua parish in Morris. According to the publication, one of the members of the organization witnessed a “possible” Eucharistic miracle.
“The story is that on Friday a host fell during the daily mass and instead of consuming it they put it in water and left it in the tabernacle to dissolve,” said the group. “A few hours later, the priest found another host that had fallen somewhere and also placed it in the tabernacle.”
The next day, while preparing for the Mass on Saturday afternoon, the sacrista of the parish “found blood stains” on the plate, and described what he saw on the plate as “a very, very thin piece of skin with blood.”
Representatives of the St. Anthony of Padua parish refused to make statements about the possible occurrence of a Eucharistic miracle after a request from the archdiocese of refraining from making more comments. After confirming that an investigation is being carried out, the archdiocese also rejected a CNA application to obtain more information on the research.
