As explained by the Archbishop Monsignor Giordano Piccinottipresident of APSA, “these results have been achieved with the conviction that we have to work constantly to increase the flow of income, to cover expenses, without affecting the assets of the Holy See and without foreseeing the sale of institutional real estate” .

To achieve these figures, APSA has carried out low-risk efforts “and proven social impact,” according to the Social Doctrine of the Church, and invested its funds “in international securities, fixed-income securities and other financial activities.”

Likewise, they report that during the past year they provided “advice, financial solutions and access to capital markets to various Dicasteries of the Curia and other bodies of the Holy See.”

According to the balance sheet, APSA manages more than five thousand real estate units, most of them “adjacent to the Vatican City State” and also has external collaborations that “do not intervene in the direct management of the properties.”

In addition, during 2023 the new Leases Regulations were rewritten and completed, “redefining all the conditions that establish mutual behavior and responsibilities towards users.”

Bishop Piccinotti also highlighted that they have carried out “improvement initiatives in compliance with the ethical values of the Church.”

“In the coming years, we will embark on a path of adjusting the number of resources, to effectively deal with the new administrative responsibilities, given that the APSA has been entrusted with the management of real estate by other entities of the Holy See,” he noted.
