In 2018, the Kangoo ZE became a milestone by being the first electric vehicle sold in Argentinaserving as a basis for the development of solutions aimed at professional clients and driving the evolution of a network that at the end of 2023 welcomed its family of E-Tech electric models, made up of the Kwid, Megane and Kangoo models.
The utility vehicle went on sale in mid-2024, being the last of the three to arrive. Imported from France, it is distinguished from its predecessor by having a Improved range, increased payload capacity and advanced safety featuresbecoming an even more efficient option for urban logistics and last mile operations.
If you compare it with the Kangoo Express – the variant with a thermal engine – the differences are even greater. And not only in dimensions, but also in quality, design and technology.
Stronger and more spacious
The Renault Kangoo E-Tech measures 4.91 meters long, 1.86 m. wide and 1.85 m. high, with a wheelbase of 3.10 meters. This means it is 51 centimeters longer, 10 cm wider and 5 cm higher than the standard Kangoo. Likewise, between the axles it is 30 centimeters longer.
On the other hand, it offers a loading volume of 4,3 m3 (3.3 m3 on the Express) and a maximum payload of 800 kilos (150 kilos more than Kangoo ZE and 50 more than the Express). Its extra-large (864 mm) sliding side door makes it easy to load and unload large objects.
The storage space is now 2.2 meters long, 1.5 m. wide and 1.3 m. high, while it has two rear doors that can open from 90° a 180°facilitating access even when there is little space behind the vehicle.

The Kangoo E-Tech has a 22 kW electric motor that delivers a power of 90 kW (equivalent to 120 horsepower) and 245 Nm of torque that are immediately felt when you step on the accelerator. But if you drive in Eco mode, the power drops to 55 kW (75 horsepower) to take care of consumption.
It is associated with an automatic transmission from which you can choose between three levels of regenerative braking. The B1 (limited) is suitable for driving on highways and expressways; B2 (standard), is ideal for mixed use; and B3 (maximum regenerative), for traffic jams and sections with ups and downs.
If carrying long objects, the cargo area can be extended by opening the grille that separates the cabin from the rear sector and completely folding down the passenger seat.The system is powered by 45 kWh lithium-ion batteries (previously 33 kWh) that allows it to extend the autonomy by almost 50% and travel between 260 and 270 real kilometers on a single charge (although the brand declares 300 kilometers).
The battery has a liquid cooling system and electrical resistance to ensure that it always works at the appropriate temperature, thus maintaining its autonomy and reducing charging time.
It has a warranty of eight years (previously five) or 160,000 kilometers and during this interval it can be replaced free of charge if its capacity decreases to less than 70% of its nominal value (SOC).
To recharge it there are three options: a single-phase charge (alternating current) of 7.4 kW, which takes about 5 hours to reach from 15% to 80% of its capacity; a 22 kW three-phase load, also with alternating current, which takes 90 minutes (15%-80%) and is configured for charging at public, semi-public stations and home charging; and an 80 kW (direct current) fast charge for ultra-fast chargers that takes only 30 minutes.
The battery charging port is hidden behind the brand logo located on the grill. The Kangoo E-Tech is an efficient work tool, as long as it has its own charger. Although the charging network is improving, it is still scarce and not entirely reliable (some do not work and others may be occupied by other cars) in case of an emergency stop.
