In the middle of the MotoGP revolution in Termas de Río Hondo, Honda Argentina took the opportunity to make a bomb announcement: the return of Transalp To Argentina, a legendary motorcycle in our country and highly anticipated by brand fans.
The XL750 Transalp 2025 He is one of the main attractions in the Honda stand in the Argentina Grand Prix of the highest category of world motorcycling.
The announcement is concrete: the Japanese brand promises to launch the market of this iconic model by the middle of this year.
From the name, Transalp already expresses the idea with which this motorcycle was conceived in the 80s: crossing the Alps. The design and benefits ended up confirming it. Today the transalp of the ’80 and ’90 that are still seen in the streets and routes of our country are true jewels.
The highlights of the new XL750 has to do with the Technology, Security and Comfort It incorporates, not only compared to the latest model that was sold in Argentina 16 years ago, but to the 2023 version that was marketed in the world. Of course, without losing the essence, keeping the transalp name and the adventurous design features.
The Transalp 2025 is equipped with a 755 cc parallel bicylindrical engine, liquid cooling and 8 valves, offers a balance between power and efficiency. In addition, it has a 6 -speed transmission and multiple driving modes, adapting to different styles and management conditions.
Clarion He spoke with Alejandro Modica, commercial manager of the motorcycle division, of Honda Argentina about what the arrival of Transalp implies:
-What does Transalp launch in Argentina mean for Honda?
-It is a moment, the truth, that historical. I claimed when we launched the renewal of Tornado at the time, an iconic model for us and, in addition, to do it at a time where it is a segment that is being developed so strong in Argentina, segments, segments trail Between half and high displacement is what is growing most, what the public is looking for the most. And to be able to offer this model at this time a model of these characteristics is historical for us. We are very happy.

-What is broadly, the highlight of this version? Surely brings a lot of improvements compared to the last transalp that we could see for sale here in our country.
-With regarding that model the jump is abysmal. Change the motorcycle completely. But with respect to the latest model that was marketed in the rest of the world (2023), it has several improvements, mainly in technology and design. With respect to technology, everything that accompanies the engine is renewed. I think the most outstanding has to do with the ELECTRONIC ACCELERATOR ASSISTANCE And driving modes and on the other hand, everything that is the lighting system, including with a front very similar to what is Africa Twin, changes the screen completely. And as for the suspension, also several improvements that make an ideal motorcycle for those who seek trail adventure. It is a very versatile and good motorcycle in a displacement already with a power, the Hornet 750 engine, more than 90 horses, many benefits for all types of adventures.
-How will you live with the other models, such as Africa Twin? Which specific audience do they point to?
-This model 750 is medium, pulling high displacement. There is still an important gap with Africa Twin. And they are two very different audiences. The Africa is in a Maxi Trail segment with obviously other types of benefits and we will be able to attack two audiences with a very good volume of demand that we are having.
-The last launches in the middle range, in addition to those of low displacement, have to do with the changes in the economic policy of our country?
-Yes, sure. It is favored by all changes in the context. We came from some post pandemic years, very focused on local production and of lower displacement models and obviously now with new more favorable conditions to import. We are opening the range of possibilities we have. We were connecting a lot of info of the public, asking for different things. We take note of everything, we study it and today we are starting. Already end of last year we announced Africa Twin 2025. Earlier this year we announced NX 500. As we had the two tips of that segment fun That we call, between 500 and 1100 and we lacked the intermediate step that we are announcing today. So we will continue in this line. I think this is the beginning. We still have a lot of land to go and little by little we will get to everything, to all kinds of audiences.
-Do you go a potential in the public of average and high range that was contained?
-Yes, there is great potential and you see what is happening in the market. We close last year with 15,000 motorcycles in total of the year in this segment. We are talking about motorcycles, trail, half or high displacement touring. And we hope that this number will double. There are many very competitive brands, with good products and well, we are going to enter now now that to put the rod much above and that there is an offer for the public that really many times went to look for other types of motorcycles because it had no presence of ours, so we are sure that we will be able to capture it. Even the public who was waiting for Honda’s arrival in these years.
-Can it be said that the motorcycle market boom in Argentina, which has been expanding several years ago, will now also take a quality leap in the Motomotor Park?
-I’m sure yes, there is the offer to be. That there is diversity of products always helps all to improve. And that will happen, without a doubt, but not only in the products, but also in the way of serving our customers, not so much in the sale, in the after -sales, the variety of spare parts, accessories, everything that life implies in the product will improve in every way. So that I think is a very important moment for Argentina, in this in this development that had already started a few years ago to be able to put ourselves to the shot with what were other years as a market of 700 or 800,000 motorcycles, we will be in a recovery process and I think we have a lot of fabric to cut in what is coming.
