Adam Kotas is no longer a priest of the Catholic Church

The Diocese of Santa Rosa and the Archdiocese of Las Vegas, both in the United States, reported that the Polish Adam Kotas is no longer a priest of the Catholic Church, a decision approved by Pope Francis in which there is no possibility of appealing.

On February 28, the Diocese of Santa Rosa published on its website a notetaken from the page of former Catholic priest Ivan Gonzalez, now a Lutheran pastor in Wichita (Kansas), where it was indicated that Adam Kotas is joining the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the United States, also known as the Evangelical Church of the Sons of the Gospel in the United States (ELCA).

The Diocese of Santa Rosa further specifies that “it can confirm that Adam Kotas was reduced to the lay state by the Holy Father Francis on December 18, 2023. On that date the Holy Father issued a decree of dismissal from the clerical state.”
