With an event at the Iguazú Falls, they announced the reopening of the Devil’s Throat circuit. Since when can you visit.

After the completion of the reconstruction work on the Devil’s Throat Circuit walkways in the Iguazú National Park, an event was held this Thursday, July 11, in which the reopening of the circuit, the main attraction of the most visited national park in the country, was formalized.

The Secretary of Tourism was present on the occasion. Environment and Sports of the Nation, Daniel Scioli; the governor of Misiones, Hugo Passalacqua; the mayor of Puerto Iguazú, Claudio Filippa; the president of National Parks, Cristian Larsen; and the president of the Iguazú Tourism Authority, Leopoldo Lucas, among other authorities.

The walkways that lead to the balcony overlooking the Devil’s Throat have been closed since October 2023, when a strong river flood due to rain destroyed several structures, which had to be rebuilt.

A few weeks ago, the Iguazú National Park, Iguazú Argentina SA and the National Parks Administration announced that They planned to reopen the place for the winter holidaysand it was achieved: the Balcón Garganta del Diablo can be visited again starting this Saturday, July 13.

“We are happy with this reopening of the Garganta del Diablo walk; tourists who arrive from July 13 you will be able to live the full experience of the Iguazú National Park,” recently declared Leo Lucas, president of Iturem, the Iguazú tourism body.

Access to the Devil’s Throat Circuit, which consists of 1,100 meters of walkways that run over the upper part of the Iguazú River to the very edge of its main waterfall, was closed since October 2023, when a strong flood dragged away part of the structures (as planned, since the metal walkways were prepared so that the floods would carry away parts of the floor without destroying the columns).

However, that last flood caused the Iguazú River to reach extraordinary levelswhich It also affected the gastronomic arealos Sanitary from Garganta Station and a section of the tracks railways where the Jungle Ecological Train circulates.

While the rest of the park (both the Visitor Center and the Lower and Upper circuits) pI can continue visiting normallythe important repair tasks of all the facilities were carried out, after the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI) verified the works and both the safety and quality of the reconstruction of the walkways were checked.

Now, with the entire circuit already repaired and ready, visitors will be able to enjoy the ride again through Iguazú Falls in its entirety this Saturday, July 13.

Located in the north of the province of Misiones and on the border with Brazil, the Iguazú National Park is the most visited in the countryespecially during winter holidays and Easter, although its 275 waterfalls in the middle of the jungle attract national and foreign tourists throughout the year.

Its beautiful jungle landscapes, the large volume of water carried by the Iguazú River, and the number of majestic waterfalls in the midst of great biodiversity, led UNESCO to award it in 1984 the title of “Natural heritage of Humanity”, and which was recently chosen as one of the “7 New Natural Wonders of the World”.
