Pope Francis reiterated his call today to pray for peace in Ukraine and the Holy Land, and asked the Holy Spirit to “enlighten the minds of the rulers,” later ensuring that “negotiation is needed.”
In his words after praying the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square, this Sunday, June 23, the Holy Father assured that “we continue to pray for peace, especially in Ukraine, Palestine, Israel. I look at the flag of Israel. Today I saw it when I was coming from the church of the Holy Forty Martyrs, it is a call for peace!”

“Let us pray for peace! Palestine, Gaza, Northern Congo… Let us pray for peace,” he reiterated.
“May the Holy Spirit illuminate the minds of the rulers, instill in them wisdom and a sense of responsibility, to avoid any action or word that fuels the conflict and, instead, aim decisively at a peaceful solution to the conflicts,” he continued.
“Negotiation is needed,” said Pope Francis.
