Part of the roof of an area of ​​the Vatican Museums fell off while a firefighter tried to rescue a bird that had been trapped for several days. Although the bird managed to get to safety, the man fell six meters to the ground.

The accident took place on Thursday, June 20, in the new area of ​​the museums, between the Spinster Courtyard and the Pío Cristiano Museum, according to the Italian newspaper The messenger.

Luckily, at the time of the accident there were no tourists walking through that precise place, something unusual for what is known as the “Museum of Museums”, which receives thousands of visitors every day, especially at this time of year.

According to witnesses, the firefighter “miraculously” survived the fall from the high ceiling made of plasterboard, and now the authorities must evaluate whether there was any prohibition on walking on it.
