Father’s Day: Bishops of Mexico highlight the role of fathers as guardians and co-providers of families

On the occasion of the celebration of Father’s Day, the Conference of the Mexican Episcopate (CEM) expressed its congratulations to all fathers, and assured that “they are called to be guardians and co-providers of their families, sharing and complementing the mission of the mothers”, inspired by Saint Joseph “who with love and dedication took care of Jesus and Mary.”

In a statement released this June 16, the Mexican bishops noted that “in these challenging times, we highlight the inestimable value of the family and the fundamental role of the father as a source of peace, serenity and stability.”

“We recognize and value the equally important role of mothers, who, along with fathers, are pillars of the family. In many homes, both parents work tirelessly to provide and raise their children in an environment of love and faith,” the Mexican prelates stated.

“The Church appreciates and supports this collaboration between fathers and mothers, which reflects the complementarity and equal dignity between men and women,” they added.

The CEM stressed that “responsible parenting involves guiding with wisdom, teaching with patience and loving unconditionally. As the book of Proverbs says, ‘The father of a righteous man will be very happy; “He who has a wise son is filled with joy.”

“As bishops and spiritual fathers, we pray that every parent will find strength in Christ and be a living reflection of His love.”

“May Saint Joseph, model of fatherhood, intercede for all fathers, so that they may be a source of unity, love and faith in their homes. And may the Holy Family be a beacon that illuminates the path of all Mexican families,” the Mexican bishops concluded.
