From June 6 to 8, 2025, the Archdiocese of Valladolid will host the International Congress Cor Iesu, Spes Mundi (Heart of Jesus, hope of the world) organized together with the Institute of the Heart of Christ of the Archdiocese of Toledo.
The meeting, which will be held within the framework of the 2025 Jubilee called by Pope Francis and the 350th anniversary of the apparitions of the Sacred Heart to Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque in Paray-le-Monial, will be attended by archbishops, bishops, theologians and evangelizers from Spain, the rest of Europe and America.

The Archbishop of Valladolid and president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, Mons. Luis Argüello, stated on June 7, the day on which the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated and the jubilee year dedicated to this devotion closed, that this The call is made “to proclaim loudly that the Heart of Jesus is the hope of the world.”
The congress, which will open registration next October, will be inaugurated by the Bishop of Alcalá de Henares, Mons. Demetrio Fernández.
The participation of the rector of the Paray-le-Monial sanctuary, Fr. Etienne Kern, is also planned; the delegate of Youth Ministry of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela, Javier García Rodríguez; and Mother María Gallardo, from the Company of the Savior, among others.
Also, the presence of the Archbishop of Toledo, Mons. Francisco Hill; the Bishop of Orihuela-Alicantes, Mons. Jose Ignatius Munilla; the Bishop of Jerez, Mons. Jose Rico; and of the Apostolic Nuncio in Spain, Mons. Bernard Auza.
The international congress Cor Iesu, Spes Mundi will also feature interventions by various experts from ecclesiastical universities such as Father Carlos Granados, dcjm, professor of Sacred Scripture at the San Dámaso University of Madrid; the professor at the Sapienza University (Rome), Mario Di Masso; or Father Ignacio Manresa, hnssc, professor of Sacred Scripture at the “San Ildefonso” Theological Institute of Toledo.
The Archdiocese of Valladolid and the Sacred Heart of Jesus
On May 14, 1773, the feast of the Ascension of the Lord, the young Bernardo de Hoyos, after taking communion, had a vision of the sacred Heart of Jesus “surrounded with the crown of thorns and with a cross at the top end” in the who made him what was known as the Great Promise: “I will reign in Spain and with more veneration than in other parts.”

From June 16, 2023 until June 7, 2024, the Archdiocese of Valladolid celebrated a jubilee year on the occasion of the centenary of the enthronement of the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the tower of the Cathedral.
