Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, a young Italian known by many as the “patron saint of mountaineers,” could be declared a saint during Jubilee 2025, according to prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro.
The cardinal announced at the national assembly of Catholic Action in Sacrofano, Italy, on April 26, that Frassati’s canonization is “on the horizon.”
“I would like to tell you that the canonization of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati is now clearly on the horizon and is in sight for the next Jubilee Year,” the cardinal commented, according to Avvenire, the official newspaper of the Italian Episcopal Conference.
