The link between the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) and Freemasonry is not unknown. And, in recent times, less and less hidden. Not in vain, since March 2022, the PSOE senator José María ‘Txema’ Oleaga Zalvidea was elected as Very Respectable Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Spain, the first Spanish Masonic obedience by number of lodges and members.
On April 16, Oleaga published a laudatory article of the former socialist minister Jerónimo Saavedra, to whom, shortly before his death, he awarded his highest distinction, the Gold Medal.
“Hearing him speak publicly about the absence of resentment shows a Brother who has polished his stone in a way that is not easily seen,” says Oleaga, who concludes his text saying: “Jerónimo was a teacher, yes. He was a Master Mason.”
