The president of the Episcopal Conference of Colombia (CEC), Cardinal Luis José Rueda, stated that the massive marches on Sunday were “a democratic experience” and invited the government to listen to all sectors.
On April 21, marches took place in several large cities in rejection of the policies of Gustavo Petro’s government, including the changes he is applying to the health system despite the fact that his reform project was shelved by Congress.
Among the cities where the demonstrations took place are Cúcuta, Bucaramanga, Medellín, Ibagué, Cartagena, Barranquilla and Bogotá, whose Plaza de Bolívar was filled with people despite the intense rain.
