After being anointed and receiving their respective miters, rings and staffs, both sat in their respective chairs or seats and were received by warm applause from those in attendance.
After Communion, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime thanked those present, highlighted the union of the Salesians with Pope Francis and indicated that he and Bishop Piccinotti will continue to serve the Church, especially the poor.
The Mass was also attended by various faithful, friends and family, civil authorities; and some Salesian cardinals such as Tarcisio Bertone, Daniel Sturla, Archbishop of Montevideo (Uruguay); and Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga, Archbishop Emeritus of Tegucigalpa (Honduras).
