He was ordained deacon on September 6, 1990 and received priestly orders on February 2, 1991.
After having worked in several parishes in Guayaquil, he was invited in 2012 by Bishop Marcos Pérez Caicedo, then Bishop of Babahoyo, to work in that diocese, serving in the parishes of Palenque, San Juan de Pueblo Viejo and Santa Rita de Barreiro.
In 2016 he was appointed parish priest of the cathedral and vicar general of Babahoyo. After Bishop Pérez’s transfer to the diocese of Cuenca he was diocesan administrator for two years.
