From the main church, the procession headed towards La Alameda, made up of a military music band, associations, school delegations, religious congregations, and faithful in general, accompanied by the clergy and ecclesiastical dignitaries.
The Provincial of the Franciscans, Fray Rosa Quiroga — representing Fray Orellana — wore the crown, accompanied by Vicar Segura and other priests.
Escorting the venerated Image marched the canons, bishops and authorities. The men lined the sidewalks while the women closed the procession with great devotion.
As it passed, the image of the Virgin crossed the streets decorated with flags, pennants, and 21 triumphal arches placed for the occasion. A rain of flowers fell on the pilgrims from the roofs and balconies.
