Likewise, Father Robert Daudier—director of the hospital— told Vatican News that the 285 employees of the medical center suffer daily due to violence. He commented that the barricades placed on the streets by armed groups make it very difficult to replenish supplies of medicine and food, so they must be rationed.
Before leaving the facilities, the director explained, the situation on the street must be evaluated: “Are there shootings? Will they let us through to get oxygen, fuel and other essential items? When we manage to get out, it is always through negotiation with these gunmen and bandits,” he expressed.
