The Conference of the Mexican Episcopate (CEM) expressed its solidarity with the Bishop of Orizaba, Mons. Eduardo Cervantes Merino, and the priests who accompanied him and who were assaulted on Wednesday, April 3, on a highway between Puebla and Veracruz.
In a statement published this Saturday on its X account, the Episcopate reported that the prelate and the priests “were violently stripped of their belongings, but by the grace of God they were not hurt.”
“This situation of insecurity that is experienced every day hurts us deeply, we ask the authorities at all levels to pay greater attention and care to free and safe transit on the country’s roads,” expressed the Mexican bishops.
