The Spanish bishops invite us to celebrate human life as “good news” and a gift in their message for the Day for Life that will be celebrated next April 8, as this year the day of the Incarnation coincided with Holy Week. .
The message titled Life, good newsprepared by the Episcopal Subcommittee for the Family and the Defense of Life of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE), states at the beginning that “life is a gift from God, not an absolute right to the free disposal of human judgment.” .
The “deeper” reason for stating this is that “the gift is something we welcome because it is given to us, while the right is something we can demand.” Furthermore, the prelates point out, the gift is more than a gift because “it implies a task, a responsibility.”
