For you and with you I pray: “Lord, you are our peace (cf. Ef 2:14-22), you who have proclaimed those who work for peace blessed (cf. Mt 5,9), frees the heart of man from hatred, violence and revenge. We contemplate you and follow you, who forgives, who is meek and humble of heart (cf. Mt 11,29). May no one steal from our hearts the hope of standing up and resurrecting with you, may we not tire of affirming the dignity of every man, without distinction of religion, ethnicity or nationality, starting with the most fragile, with women, the elderly, the little ones and the poor.”
Brothers and sisters, I would like to tell you that you are not alone and we will not leave you alone, but we will remain in solidarity with you through prayer and active charity, hoping to soon be able to return to you as pilgrims, to look into your eyes and embrace you, to break the bread of brotherhood and contemplate those sprouts of hope born from your seeds, scattered in pain and cultivated with patience.
I know that your Pastors, the religious men and women, are with you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you do and continue to do. May the gold of unity grow and shine in the crucible of suffering, also with the brothers and sisters of other Christian confessions, to whom I also wish to express my spiritual closeness and express my encouragement. I carry you all in prayer.
