This model is a good example of the synergy that is beginning to materialize within the Stellantis Group, since it is a vehicle that is built on the basis of the Peugeot Landtrek pickup. Both the French and Italian brands are part of this large automotive conglomerate.
The news arises because the model has just been presented in Algeria, one of the markets where this truck will be marketed. The other important destination mentioned is Brazil, where it is expected to be launched soon with armed units in Uruguay.
During this year several Brazilian media mentioned the Fiat plant in Córdoba as a possible production center for the manufacture of this truck for Latin America. That even if that possibility arose, its landing in the local market would not be confirmed either. But at the moment there is no definition in that sense.
In the region, this new truck will join a range that until now covered lower segments, such as the Strada and the Toro, both represented with great success, especially in Brazil, where the smallest truck is the best-selling vehicle in the market. market.
At the moment, there is no official statement on whether the Titano will finally be offered in the Argentine market.
The truth is that for now the Stellantis Group has postponed the arrival of the Peugeot Landtrek that joins this global premiere of Titano, two models that could allow have a presence in one of the most important segments of the market as is that of medium-sized trucks.
China, France and Italy
To find the origin of this truck you have to travel to before January 2021, the date on which the Stellantis Group was established, because before that, Peugeot was already undertaking the production of a medium-sized truck: the Landtrek.
To develop that pickup, The French brand had partnered with the giant Changan Group, of Chinese origin. With Stellantis formalized, Fiat saw the possibility of trying a new adventure among medium-sized trucks.
Let us remember that in the past, the Italian manufacturer had turned to Mitsubishi to build the Fullback model on the basis of the L200, which was marketed in Brazil and in some markets in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Regarding the new TItano, it is not known what engines it will have; something that was not confirmed in Landtrek either (it is estimated that they are engines between 180 and 200 horsepower), but as Clarín learned, the regional version will have its differences with the one presented for Algeria.
According to Brazilian media, it will offer a wide range of base versions and options designed for fleets. They also highlight that it could have 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a 360° vision system with parking sensors and a smart key for access and engine start, among others.
