Pope Francis: Jesus did not come to condemn, but to save the world

From the window of the Vatican Apostolic Palace, Pope Francis encouraged the Catholic faithful gathered for the Angelus prayer this Sunday in St. Peter’s Square to “reflect on this: Jesus did not come to condemn, but to save.”

The Holy Father pointed out that the Gospel of this fourth Sunday of Lent (Jn 3, 14-21) “presents us with the figure of Nicodemus, a Pharisee, ‘one of the leaders of the Jews’”, who “saw the signs that Jesus was doing, recognized in Him a teacher sent by God and went out to meet him at night, to not to be seen.”

“The Lord welcomes him, dialogues with him and reveals to him that he has not come to condemn but to save the world,” the Pope highlighted.
