As part of the celebrations for this important milestone, the Augustinian Recollects in Venezuela have planned a series of activities between December 5 and 7, which include a solemn Mass, a concert offered by the Augustinian Recollect Sisters, a historic congress on the Order in the country, several days of formation and a prayer vigil.
The Holy See has ordered that a Jubilee Year be celebrated for this anniversary, and has allowed four holy doors to be opened in Augustinian temples located in Caracas, Maracaibo, Barquisimeto and San Cristóbal. Currently, 32 friars work pastorally in Venezuela, leading parishes and various social initiatives, such as educational, community and training centers.
The Augustinian Recollects are a religious Order that follows the Rule of Saint Augustine and is characterized by its dedication to contemplative and apostolic life. It was founded in the 16th century and its members seek to live a community life based on fraternity and the search for God through prayer and reflection.
