Saint of the day February 17: Seven founding Saints of the Servants of Mary Order. Catholic Saints

Children of Mary, servants of God

The Supreme Pontiff, after having learned of the good work of the young people, summoned them and asked them to be ordained priests. All, except Saint Alexius Falconieri, the youngest of the group, accepted the papal request. Falconieri, out of humility, preferred to remain as a “brother.”

In 1239, ‘the seven’ founded the Order of the Servants of Mary, also known as “servites”, after the Virgin appeared to them asking them to accept the rules of Saint Augustine for life in common. The Virgin also showed them the dark gray habit they would wear, recommending that they wear it in memory of the Passion of her Son.
